Blog # 12

Wow. I cant believe this semester almost over. This year went by so fast, it almost feels like my birthday was just a few months ago. Well it wasnt but it feels like it is. Now my birthdays almost here again on January 25th...and im going to be 20. Then 21, gosh i feel kinda old. But anyways this semester went by so fast too. Especially in Ms. Duffields class, with all those energetic class discussions!!! I have to admit that some of the mercury reader storys were kind of boring but somehow Ms Duffield always made them more interesting and easier to understand. I thank her for that(: My favorite was The Yellow Wallpaper. Now its time to start studying for my math final. I have to study extra hard for this final because math is not my strongest point. The good thing is i had an excellent math teacher also Mrs. Akl. For anyone taking math i definitely recommend her. Im only taking two classes this semester, English and Math. So technically, i only have one final to study for, so its not as overwhelming. Next semester im taking 5 classes, well 6 if i get the math class i want. I need to be extra determined and definitely not slack off. With work and stuff, i hope its not as overwhelming.



A new year is almost here. I always say for my new years resolution is to stay in shape and eat more healthy foods Especially after the holidays, i always gain weight. My mom pointed it out to me the other day. She straight up told me i had to start hitting the gym again. Thats my mom she never sugar coats anything. Im grateful for that, because i know its true and she says thing for my own good. Now im going use everthing she says to me for motivation. Its time to get PHYSICAL(:



Now the healthy eating is a lot hard for me. Especially since when i hang out with my friends we eat out a lot. I need to start trading in all those fatty foods for more vegetables and fruits. Drink lots and lots of water too. I want to start a healthy diet any recommendations?



I have a feeling that 2012 is going to be a busy year. I have so many things planned out too. Hopefully i get to do all of them. One thing i definitely need to do is go to Vegas for the Electric Daisy Carnival. I went last year and it was sooo fun. It was a pretty good experience, and i danced my butt off. As i said it before i love to dance, and its such a good work out. I need to get my ticket in January before they sell out(: It is Amazinggggggg

I am so ready for Christmas!!! What i really want the most is a long winter break but that wont be possible since i have to take winter session at Valley college. On a brighter note today i just realized that Christmas is almost here. Especially since my mother made me put up the Christmas tree today at our house. I think shes putting it up early this year because our whole family is coming down to our house for Thanksgiving. She just wants to show off how good she is at decorating trees. My aunt and her always get competitve and try to see who can decorate their trees the best. My mother said thats not even the case but its pretty obvious. This year my mom decorated the tree with chocalate brown colors, beige, gold and maroon colors. I have to admit it looks pretty nice, i told her it seemed like Martha Stewart decorated, it is that nice. I have so many things to buy this year. I dont even know where to start. My brothers asked me to buy them clothes. So i think im getting them a couple of obey shirts and some hoodies for this cold, rainy winter. My dads pretty easy so i dont really have to worry about him.



 My moms the most difficult i think. Shes kind of picky when it comes to certain things. If she doesnt like it shell tell me. Maybe, not in a mean way but in her "own" way so my feelings dont get hurt. I have to get something for my grandparents to since i think their coming down from Mexico for Christmas. So this Christmas has to be extra special.

Im not asking for a lott of things this year, I just told my parents that i wanted cash and also a new tv. I always like to ask them just for money so i can do my own shopping and buy some of the things that i like. I wanted a new Macbook air since my HP laptop is just not working that good anymore and ive fixed it so many times that i already lost count. Im surprised its letting me finish writing this blog(: But my Macbook air well just have to wait until my birthday. Which is in Janury 25th so i wont have to wait long.



Im excited for all the food im going to get to eat for Christmas. I think this year my aunts the one doing most of the cooking at her house, so knowing her were feasting(:...and all those desserts yumm!!! i cant wait...Ill think for sure ill have to go on a diet after all that eating.

Yesterdays fight was so crazy!!! I still cant believe that Manny Pacquio won. Good thing i won the bet against my friend Daniel. My friend Daniel and i always bet against each other and i always win but he never pays me back. He just always takes me out to eat so i guess that is good. Last time, during the NBA season i bet him that the Miami Heat would beat the Lakers and he was so sure the Lakers would win but they lost. He is such a sore looser but he took me and my friends to P.F Changs. Ha-Ha. But anyways back to the fight, all i can say is that i was really surprised by the outcome. I went to go watch the fight with my mom, cousin and little brother at this seafood restaurant called El Pescador. It was so noisy and crowed in there, but i decided to suck it in because i really wanted to watch the fight. Almost everyone in there went for Juan Manuel Marquez. When Michael Buffer announced his famous "LETS GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEEE!" everyone went crazy. I love it when he says that.

As soon as the fight began the Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez put up a good fight.He was swift and threw in many good punches.Thats the first time i see someone do that to Pacquio, and Pacquio is a beast. When i mean Pacquio is a beast i mean hes really good i mean he didnt receive the title of Welterweight Champion for nothing. For Marquez to be 38 years old and do that much damage, he put up a good fight. I definitely think that Marquez should of one but the judges picked Manny Pacquio. Everyone in the restaurant was so pissed. They were saying that it wasnt fair and that the judges were bought, so many other things. Even though i was going for Pacquio i didnt cheer or anything because i knew it wasnt fair that Marquez had lost. A lot of people were not happy with the outcome of the match. They should have at least made the fight a tie. Out of the 3 matches theyve had this was definitely Marquez is best, and deserved better.Hopefully theres a rematch soon!!!





The match took place at the beautiful hotel, the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas. How I wish i was there!!! Its a magnificient hotel that has actual real lions that you can admire from behind glass. Its pretty expensive hotel so hopefully someday ill have enough money so i can stay there as my times as i want.(:

This Weekend- BLOG# 9

 

 I didnt really do much this weekend except catch up on homework and some movies. I decided to do some homework first, so i did a bit of English then moved on to some math. After all the math homework i did, i can seriously say i hate math. At times, its very complicted for me with so many steps to remember. I hate the fact that in some problems theres like 5 different steps in  one problem, and if you mess up with one of the steps you get the whole thing wrong!! I honestly thought i would never finish. It took me at least two hours just to finish the word problems. How will i ever use those in life? I rather much do English homework.
  Since it was so cold on Saturday, after work i decided to stay in and watch movies with my little bros. I was in  the mood for a a chick flick, like Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink or even A Walk to Remember. Of course my brothers wouldnt have that. We argued a bit because they wanted to watch an action movie like Transformers but i really wasnt in the mood for that. So we decided upon something more funny. After much consideration, we finally picked Step Brothers. I can say that this movies is so hilarious, I seriously could not stop laughing.

  The movie is with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. The movie is basically about, two unemployed, 40 year old men still living with their parents. They rely always on their parents and act like little kids. They become step brothers, when their parents Nancy and Robert meet at conference at work and decide to get married. Eventually, they both move in together so both Brennan and Dale are forced to live with one another. The problem is they both resent each other and theyll do whatever is possible to ruin each others life. Then with time they realize they have more in common than they think. My brothers and i fell in  love with this movie.

  Today Sunday, was a bit more relaxing. I went to church with my parents in the morning. Then after church we went to get Portos. Yum(: The pastries there are delicious. The cheese rolls are my favorite there but everything is amazing. I definitely have to recommend that place to eat.







Blog#8

   The other night, i had a dream i was going on a roadtrip with my friends. All i remember was driving with my friends and then we got to the most amazing beach. I only have flashbacks of the dream but it seemed so amazing and relaxing. Maybe its a sign that someday i will? How i wish that would come true!!! My friends have always wanted to do that, and of course i do too. We promised ourselves that one day we would do it once we were older. We told each other once we were 21 we would do it but knowing my mom she would never allow that. I would have to have my own place and living independently for me to do something like that. She would probably give me a long lecture on it and why it would be so bad. I kind of understand her on some of the things because i know it could be dangerous but sometimes i wish she was more lenient. She can be so strict sometimes and i feel like a little girls and not a young adult about to be 20. When i try asking her for something she sometimes automatically says no, gets really stubborn and i cannot even explain anything to her. It gets so annoying and frustrating so when she tries to tell me something i try to zone out.. I respect her and everything because shes my mom and while im living under her rule i need to respect her rules. UGHH! Its just so hard sometimes.

  But anyways, someday i would definitely like to travel around the world. Theres so many places that i would like to travel, i would want to go to some nice beaches.

Ive always wanted to go to the Dominican Republic or even St. Barts.



Ive always always wanted to a beach where the water is clear and warm. Like this time i went to Cancun, with my parents, and the water was amazing. It was so warm i just wanted to stay in there. Even though i would never swim out into the deep, i would be too paranoidand think a shark would attack me. I seriously need to stop watching shark week, on discover channel.

 Other places i would like to visit sometime are Brazil and Egypt. Brazil because ive wanted to go to the carnivals they have each year. Everyone weres these amazing outfits and they just dance non stop. It seems so fun and cool to watch. Egypt because ive always wanted to see the pyramids and ive always been interested on the whole Egyptian mummy thing. All those stories about the pharaohs and their treasures seem pretty amazing to me.



  



Upcoming Weekend- blog #7

       Im super excited for the upcoming weekend. On saturday im going to this music festival, called Escape from Wonderland. Its almost like a really big concert with all these different artist. All these famous DJs play house music, trance, dubstep and much more. There is going to be about six different stages, where all the djs go on at different times. Some of the djs that are going to be there are Afrojack, ATB, Benny Benassi, Steve Angello, Doctor P, Dash Berlin, An21, Bobby Burns, Markus Schulz and many more. I know a lot of people have no idea who these people are but in other countries their pretty famous. If your into that kind of music youll definitely like them. Its a pretty big event and it out sold another event called Monster Massive that was supposed to be on the same day. Its the first Halloween event that the company Insomniac makes, so its supposed to be really good. We can go in Halloween costumes and i decided to be an angel. Im super psyched to see Afrojack!!!! Hes defintitely one of my favorite DJs.



He mixes a lot of Dirty Dutch, with house and electro. I like him a lot because he always tries to mix in his music a little bit of everything he doesnt really go for one genre of music. He has so much creativity and talent and hes only 23 years old!! I remember when i first saw him 3 years ago, at my first Electric Daisy Carnival, I immediately fell in love with him. He wasnt as well known back then as he is now. His music is just so upbeat and it makes you want to dance. Everytime im in a bad mood or just feeeling down, i just listen to his music and it immediately puts me in a better mood. Ive seen him almost every year since then and now im going to get to see him again on Saturday. After that i heard on a couple of websites that he got  alot of attention for it and many artist wanted him to produce a couple of their tracks. He has a great talent for music and hes such a good DJ.

The other DJs that i really want to see are Steve Angello, ATB and Benny Benassi.

Steve Angello is part of a trio of DJs, called together The Swedish House Mafia but he also Djs individually and he is definitely good at what he does. Why are Vampires so Popular?- blog # 6

     Personally, i think it all began with the Twilight books, But i think we all have to agree that over the years this fictional character had become very popular in our culture. Their everywhere, in movies, books and even in tv shows. The vampire has been a very old a fictional character ; in fact one of the most popular of all time. I think in many ways this fictional character appeals to young adults because sometimes we want to zone out and recreate our own little fantasy. What better way than to pick this fictional character? I mean when we think of vampires now, arent they always depicted like these gorgeous, desirable, sexual, blood drinking, dark, sexy creatures. With the excpetion of some films and books where their sometimes really evil, ugly and just not good. I remember when i was younger  i used to think vampires where so scary. I would try watching Blade and i hated to see the vampires. I mean Blade was the good vampire  but Wesley Snipes was just definitely not sexy to me. Interview with a Vampire with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise was the movie that started changing my perspective of them. Brad Pitt played the handsome lonely vampire that always wanted to do good. While Tom Cruise was also good looking he was evil and very coniving. Then right around when i was in High School, the Twilight books began getting very popular. A lot of teenage girls around the world began to see Edward Cullen as the perfect boyfriend. He was their little fantasy, almost perfect. Except for the fact that hes dead and thinks hes destined for a life of loneliness until he meets Bella. If you ask me i think Jacob (Taylor Lautner) is way better. Vampires will alwlays be followed with themes of sex, desire, romance and death.

     I definitely recomend that if your into those kind of shows to watch True Blood. This show has everything from Vampires, Warewolves to even fairys. It definitely has its share of romance and action. Alexander Skarsgard is one of the vampires and he is so handsome(:

To kill a mockingbird is a novel written by Harper Lee. The author wrote the novel based on similar occurences that happened near her hometown when she was a child. The novel is about a lawyer named Atticus Finch, a widower, livibg in a small town called Maycomb. As a single parent, Atticus strives to be role model for his two children Jem and Scout. He teaches them about the importance of honesty respect and justice. As a lawyer him and his family are pretty much living comfortably compared to the rest of society. Scout is the narrator and talks about the events occuring in her hometown. Her brother and her bestfriend a boy named Dill that only goes there during the summers. They have an intense curiosity towards their neighbor Boo Radley. Their imagination runs wild when they speak of him their both terrified and curious him. They both makeup and hear stories about him since hes a reclusive living in his home and never leaves it. Another big occurence in the story in the case of Tom Robbinson, a black man accused of rapping a young white women called Mayella Ewell. even though the town is agains it, and they go as far as calling him a "nigger lover", Atticus agrees to defend Tom Robbinson. During the trial atticus does no permit the children to watch the trial so they watch it in secret from a balcony. During the trial its obvious that Mayella and her father, the town drunk, Bob Ewell, are lying. What really happened was that Mayella was making advances toward Tom and her father found out and badly beat her. Even though all the evidence points out that Tom is innocent, the jury still convicts him. Atticus is saddend by the injustice because the trial was not fair . In prison Tom tries to escape but is shot and killed.  Bob Ewell wants revenge against Atticus and one night decides to attack the children but they are saved by Boo Radley. The children then change their perspective of him and he becomes their hero.

The other day i heard my little brother watching some of Michael Jacksons music videos. I came in the room and watched them with him. As i sat there i was thinking to myself that he was such an amazing artist. He had so much creativity and talent. Aside from all the crazy stuff he did and some very bad publicity, i had to admit to myself that he was a very talented artist.
  Thats why i decided that i had to write a bit about Michael Jackson, The King of Pop. Since his death was such a shock to everyone and now with the trial against his doctor its receiving many media attention.
  Michael Jackson was born as Michael Joseph Jackson on August 29, 1958. He was born in Gary, Inidiana and was the eighth child out of ten in total. He began to get some fame when him and his brothers formed a group called The Jackson 5. After some time some of his brothers left the group to begin their solo careers. It wasnt until Jackson himself began his solo career that he became a world wide phenomenon. He broke numerous records and will go down in history as one of the greatest artist of all time. The Guinness World book of Records recognizes him as the most succesful music artist of all time!! His album thriller alone was the best selling album of 1983 and is considered the best selling album of all time not just in the United States but also world wide. The album includes hits like "Billie Jean", "Thiller", "Beat It" and many more. He became a pop and fashion icon. With his originallity he created his own fashion style that will always be rememembered. He contributed many things to the music industry and has become an inspiration to many new artists. With his signature dance moves like the moonwalk and the robot his performances were unforgettable. As a child he had a very troublesome relationship with his father. His father physically and emotionally beat him, at times on a regular basis. Sometimes his father would beat him during his rehearsels because he disliked his performance or simply because he did not follow his directions. His father would tell him mean things, like telling him he had a huge ugly nose. Many people speculate that thats the reason why he altered his physical appearance so many times. Michael said in a interview once the reason he became very succesful was because of his dads strict discipline so he does give him some credit.
My favorite song from Michael definitely has to be "Billie Jean". I just think the beats catchy and i love singing along to it. Even though the videos kind of strange i still enjoy watching it.

Halloween Horror Nights

          

  This weekend was perfect to get into the halloween spirit. I finally go to go to halloween horror nights at Universal Studios. In the beginning didn't really feel like going, because I was too scared to go. I had gone a couple of years ago but I didn't think I'd be brave enough to go. Finally my friends Nancy, Fanny, and Erwin convinced me to go. I was so anxious, when we finally got there I was wondering if it was going to be the same or if it was going to be very differnt from last time. Then my friend was telling me that they had added like 3 new mazes. I had heard on the radio about the new La llorona maze and I especially did not want to go there.Which is about a woman who drowned her own kids in a river, and then she killed herself and since then her ghosts weeps for her children. When we got there the first place we went to was the scream ride. We had to go on that little train, then after it dropped us off at this like big yard where we had to careful where we walked by because scream would pop out of everywhere. They only  scared me like twice so it wasn't so bad. Towards the end of it I was thinking that all that panick was such a waist because it ended up not being that scary. Wow I seriously had to relax. So I decided to just go in another once since I was feeling so brave, the second maze  was the House of Horrors was frightening I dont think I could go in there again. We went in there and all sorts of things popped out. Like there was a moment when chuckie popped out the side of the floor. Then after like this ugly warewolf thing came out of a tree and I ran screaming from it. At one point I thought I was  going to cry but  I  knew I had to suck it in. Especially after I saw a boy that was about 13 years old walking around like if nothing was happening. At the end of the maze I just walked with my friends with my eyes closed. The third maze we went to was the Llorona one. I begged my friends not to go on it but they didn't listen. We waited like 50 minutes on it because there was so much people. At the beginning of the maze,the setting was a church and there was these ugly women sitting on the pews crying. As we kept walking it began getting darker and these ugly monsters would try to grab you from the sides. In my head I was thinking, not to look so scared because the more frightened I looked the more times they would try to scare me. I can seriously say I'm a chicken because I screamed through out most of the maze. When we finally got out of it my friends made so much fun of me because they said i was the one screaming the loudest.  I was kind of happy when i looked at the time and it was already 1:30 a.m because the whole thing was going to end at 2:00. So i was like yayyy no more getting scared. So the last ride we decided to go on was the Simpsons ride. Unfortunately while were walking towards the ride this ugly looking clown with a chainsaw chased me, i was so angry that i yelled something really bad (profanity). We finally went on the Simpsons ride and i can honestly say it was my favorite. No scaring or anything and it kind of felt like i was in an actuall roller coaster. Even though it was a night full of scare i cant deny the fact that i had so much fun. I think Im defintitely going to do that again but maybe at another park(:.

Reckless Driving

   This friday morning i was driving to go pick up my friend Nancy, so we could run some errands. As i was getting the 118 freeway on San Fernando road, i remembered what i call my "near death experience". Theres moments in a persons life that you do not even want to rememember well this ones one of mine. Sometimes just thinking of it makes me feel depressed. Well when i think of the car accident i was involved in it just makes me feel terrible.

   The precise date was Friday December 03, 2010 and i was going to go run errands with my friend Nancy. It was a really cold morning and it had started to rain. The weather alone should have been a sign of a bad omen but i still decided to go. So while i was grabbing the 118 freeway on San Fernando road, I made a fast turn and lost control of the wheel. I guess the truck lost control because of the wet road and i fell into a ditch. I honestly do not remember most of it because it all just happened so fast. All i remember was opening my eyes and trying to get out the truck because i was just so scared. This man came to help me get out of the truck. He helped me get my purse from the car and told me to call 911. I was so lost my hands were shaking and i did not know what to do. I kept blabbering and crying, until i finally called my mom. She got there way faster than the paramedics, like in almost five minutes since her work is so close  by there. When i got to the hospital the doctor told me i only had a really bad cut on my arm and a few bumps and bruises but they would heal. In that precise moment i realized how lucky i was to have survived through that whole ordeal. Since that whole accident happened i try not to be a reckeless driver and im super careful on the road now. Im so grateful that im here today and it tought me not to take things for granted.
